John Herbert (Jake) Armstrong of Englehart passed peacefully at the Kirkland Lake and District Hospital on February 10, 2020.
Jake was born to John Wilbert Armstrong and Marjorie Armstrong in Fonthill Ontario April 24, 1938. Jake completed his high school at Pelham District High School in Fenwick Ontario. Upon graduation, Jake joined the Imperial Bank of Canada in 1958 as a teller. In 1959 Jake was transferred to the Englehart branch of the CIBC. In 1962 Jake was recruited by Gordon Sparks to join the Englehart & District Hospital as the office manager. Jake furthered his education by completing a Financial Administration as well as a Hospital Administration degree from the University of Manitoba. Jake was soon promoted to the Hospital Administrator position and held this position until he retired in 1996 after 34 years of service. Jake was an active member of the community holding positions in the Kinsmen Club, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Local Churchs, Volunteer Fireman to name a few. Jake was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and four-wheeling.
Mr Armstrong is predeceased by his wife Margaret; survived by 3 sons Ron (Micheline), Cam (Michele), Eric; 2 daughters Laurie (Barb), Karen (Ivan) Mangotich, 9 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and his sister Carm Guinn.
A "Celebration for Life" will be held at the Englehart United Church on May 30, 2020 at 11:00am with Reverend Elain Lush officiating. In memory contributions can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.

To Laurie and karen so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. He was one of the nicest persons I have ever known. Always had a great sense of humour. I have many great and funny memories of years ago at our house. Sincerest condolences to you both, Gerald Seguin.

Oh Jake, I am going to miss your hugs...and that smile!!!! You were the best boss a person could ever wish for! You loved your Chelsey Buns and Butter Tarts...Probably Moms and Eves fault for the diabetes. My heart goes out to your family today. Rest in Piece my Friend.....

Hi Lorrie and Karen, not sure if you remember us, Don and Lorraine Metler, cousin of your dad from Fonthill. So sorry to hear of his passing. The only photo of you Lorrie is with Dan, our son, you were flower girl and Dan was ring bearer in Carms wedding, 50ish years ago. Thinking of you at this time
